Director of Bands - Adrian Jermaine Adams
Adrian Adams currently serves as Director of Bands at Goose Creek High School, Home of The Berkeley Center for the Arts. In his first year, he is credited with starting a Pep Band for the school’s basketball season, returning the band to SCBDA State Finals Marching Band Championship and creating and implementing new courses of study within the Arts Curriculum. Prior to this appointment, he served Charleston County School District for one year as Director of Bands and Fine Arts Department Chair, Richland County School District One for five years as a Music Director. He served as a Visual & Performing Arts curriculum reviser for Music Theory and World Music for the district. Most recently, Mr. Adams led the North Charleston High School Wind Ensemble to victory as they earned their first Superior rating at The 2018 Carowinds Festival of Music in Charlotte, NC. This is the only Superior rating for the ensemble to date. Ensembles under Mr. Adams’ leadership continues to earn superior ratings.
Mr. Adams was also appointed Assistant Director of Bands and Chief Arranger Music at Benedict College in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, under the direction of the late Mr. Herman Jones, Jr., in August of 2012. He served in this position for four years, three of the years part-time and one year full-time.
Mr. Adams earned the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Instrumental Music from Benedict College and the Master of Education (M. Ed.) degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix. He is currently pursuing a second master's degree, the Master of Music (M.M.) in Music Education at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Mr. Adams is most interested in educating the inquisitive minds of our youth and empowering the society through music education.
Assistant Director of Bands - Joshua A. Maxwell
Josh Maxwell serves as the Assistant Director of Bands at Goose Creek High School. Mr. Maxwell graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and the Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Music Education.
Marrington Middle School Director - Swati Dadheech-Linder
Mrs. Swati Linder is the Director of Bands at Marrington Middle School of the Arts.
Under the direction of Mrs. Linder, the Marrington Bands have consistently placed students into the Berkeley County All County Band, Region Band, and All-state Band. Her bands have earned Excellent and Superior Ratings at state and regional festivals. As a result of these high awards, the band has been awarded the highest state honor several years in a row, the Outstanding Performance Award.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (K-12, Instrumental) from Winthrop University and is highly qualified in all areas of music education. Mrs. Linder's primary instruments are the flute and piccolo. She has performed locally with the Charleston Wind Ensemble, the Summerville Community Orchestra, the Berkeley County Director Big Band, and the Goose Creek Community Band.
Sedgefield Middle School Director - Lane Doss
Mr. Lane Doss currently serves as Director of Bands at Sedgefield Middle School. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University.
Percussion Instructor - James Cannon
James Cannon, Percussion Instructor, received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in percussion performance from Winthrop University. He is the coordinator of the Goose Creek and BCA percussion ensembles. Mr. Cannon is also a part of the South Carolina Artist Roster, Vic Firth Education Team, and he has given master classes and clinics across the state. He also plays drums and vibraphone professionally throughout the state. While under his direction, the GCHS Percussion ensemble has won 3 state championships in the concert percussion division.
Percussion Instructor - Justin D. Rivers
Mr. Rivers currently serves as the Percussion Instructor for the Spirit of Gold Band.
Flute Instructor - Kim King
Kimberly Alford King graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.A. in Flute Performance and a B.S. in Biology. She plays flute and piccolo with the Southcoast Symphony and is the found and conductor of the St. Timothy Flute Choir. Kim has a flute studio and enjoys making music with ensembles all over South Carolina. She is a manager at o2si Smart Solutions, a custom analytical standards manufacturer, and has been a volunteer at The Center for Birds of Prey since 2007.
